The Newsletters
Topic Lists:
In this issue Reading.email has three newsletter topics you can explore: US Politics, Books and Covid News.
US Politics is an obvious topic list for October in a US Election year. The Washington Post’s Power Up, Politico and NPR have specialized political newsletters. C-Span’s 'Word For Word’ covers US Congress and the Executive Branch, The Atlantic which is known for long form pieces and Real Clear Politics. For a test, The Bulwark is included which often links to their podcasts. Another list of pundit newsletters is in the works and if you have a favorite, please let me know. (7)
If you really like an issue of any newsletter on Reading.email, you can copy the link and email it to a friend.
Covid News list has 12 newsletters from news organizations with current information on the Coronavirus. They include Vox, Wired, Time, USA Today, The Atlantic, BuzzFeed, Bloomberg, CNN, Politico, Quartz, Science Magazine and World Economic Forum. Several of these organizations have removed paywall restriction for Covid stories.
Books topic is for book reviews and book clubs. Since journalists are avid readers, it is not surprising to see news organizations publish weekly book newsletters like C-Span, Vox, The New Yorker, The Guardian Bookmarks, and BuzzFeed. Independent daily newsletters are Literary Hub, Book Riot, Off The Shelf, New York Review of Books and Shelf Awareness. (9).
House List:
Each week this newsletter features a publishing house’s newsletters. Axios started in 2017 and is newsletter-centric. For news they publish Axios AM and Axios PM. Other topics include: Axios World, Axios Vitals, Axios Login, Axios Media, Axios China, Axios Capital, Axios Pro Rata, Axios Markets, Axios Science, Axios Cities, and Axios Generate. You’ll start to see these newsletters in several different lists in our app. (13). Axios will soon be starting local editions in Tampa/St. Petersburg, Minneapolis/St. Paul, DesMoines and Denver.
Promoted Newsletters:
Numlock News was suggested by a reader and his daughter. It is a daily joy to read "great stories buried in the news that you won't find elsewhere.” A special Sunday version in only for their paid subscribers. Reading.email encourages financially supporting newsletters like Numlock News.
Rest of World was suggested by the same readers. It covers stories beyond “the same five tech companies”. One of the great things about newsletters is how they can represent different views or get us outside our bubbles. Give it a look.
Last week Platformer by Casey Newton was promoted. I suggested it again because you might consider a look before weekday issues become part of a paid subscription.
Note: publications do not compensated us for this promotion. This may not always be the case.

Feedback Please
US Politics is a “hot” topic. I’m sorry if your favorite political newsletter is missing. Let me know and I'll add it. A list of “climate” newsletters will be in the next issue and still looking for suggestions for that list.
Thank you for reading more newsletters with Reading.email.
